New Channels of investment carve out a new future for Egypt.

The inauguration of the New Suez Canal on August 6 marked the beginning of a new era for Egypt. The people of Cairo rejoiced en masse under the blazing sun, while in the heavily guarded VIP area, President Abdel Fattah el- Sisi, joined by a number of world leaders, emphatically declared the New Suez Canal Egypt’s “gift to the world”. It was a moment full of optimism, and symbolic of Egypt’s aspirations: a sense of national pride, the reaffirmation of its role on the international stage – Egypt is the founder and the seat of the powerful Arab League – and its ambition to boost and modernize its economy by opening its market to the world.
